Free housing update events

Housing Rights Service is currently holding a number of roadshows  with other advice agencies across Northern Ireland.  These are part of our Community Housing Advice Partnership (CHAP), which ensures that everyone has access to comprehensive housing advice

The roadshows are absolutely free and provide you with a great round up of the latest developments in housing in Northern Ireland.

Antrim roadshow – what’s new in housing

May saw the first of this year’s roadshows, which was hosted by  Antrim CAB.  Our Training Manager, Louise Togneri, gave a detailed presentation on the latest developments in housing law and practice to staff from the CAB and to other housing professionals working in and around Antrim. Louise discussed and answered questions on:

• the introduction of protocols for evictions on grounds of rent arrears in social housing;
• welfare reform and the ‘bedroom tax’ and
• the impact of tenancy deposit and landlord registration legislation for tenants and landlords.

Legal resources to help advisers and housing professionals

Our CHAP roadshows are a perfect opportunity for participants to discover resources that can help them advise on housing law in Northern Ireland.

Sharon Geary, our Legal Information Officer showcased how membership of Housing Rights Service can equip other organisations with the resources to ensure they are providing the best housing advice to their clients.
