The Private Tenants’ Forum is recruiting!
The Private Tenants’ Forum is looking for new people to join. If you are advising people who live in the private rented sector, why not encourage them to join the Private Tenants' Forum? The Forum provides a great opportunity for people to use their experience to make a positive change.
The coming year will be a crucial time for the future of the private rented sector; with the Department for Social Development due to carry out a review. The Forum hopes to play an important part in any future discussions, by talking directly with the decision makers about how this sector should be improved.
Positive impact of the Forum so far
In just a short period of time, the Forum has played an important part in discussions with key decision makers and in raising particular issues about the private rented sector. Since the first meeting in 2012, the group has;
- Met with the DSD to discuss the review of the PRS;
- Produced an animation video ‘Key to Successful Renting’;
- Produced an ‘Agenda for Action’;
- Won an award at the Chartered Institute of Housing Awards.
Benefits of joining the Private Tenants' Forum
The Forum provides a unique opportunity to meet with like-minded people with a common purpose of improving the private rented sector. There are also excellent opportunities to improve skills and knowledge with free training and personal development.
“Taking part in the Forum has brought me into a whole new world. Who would have thought I would have a qualification in housing advice, that I would be talking to MLAs. It’s good to have that status, to feel like I am good at something and helping others.” Tracey, Forum member.
