Delivering on Tenant Participation- conference from Housing Rights and Supporting Communities

Plans to increase the level of tenant participation were recently published by the Department for Social Development. ‘A Tenant Participation Strategy for NI: 2015 to 2020’ sets out the actions that social landlords should take to give tenants the opportunity to have a say in the decisions that affect them.

Housing Rights and Supporting Communities have come together to offer an exclusive one day conference that will inform those who want to involve tenants more in decision making. This conference is ideal for Social Housing providers, tenants, resident groups, consumer groups, advice agencies, community workers and local government.

Delivering on Tenant Participation: From strategy to implementation

With an overarching focus on the key themes of the Strategy, the conference will examine both the strategic and operational perspectives relating to leading, supporting and delivering tenant participation. By focussing on best practice examples, delegates will gain valuable insights into building the business case for tenant involvement and the tools by which the principles become practice.

  • The role of government; the rationale, resources and regulations.
  • Translating tenant participation principles into practice.
  • Measuring impact and evidencing the added value to organisations and service users.
  • Assessing the savings and efficiencies resulting from meaningful involvement.
  • Examples of success from Northern Ireland and beyond.
  • Models of digital inclusion and scrutiny.
  • Engaging ‘easy to ignore groups’.
  • Translating suggestions and recommendations to deliver results.
  • Models of social enterprise.
