In 2017 the Department for Communities proposed 20 recommendations for change to the Housing Selections Scheme. These proposals were open for consultation between September & December 2017. In November 2020, on the basis of the feedback received, the Minister for Communities announced that 18 of the 20 recommendations would be implemented. The implementation of these recommendations will be phased in, with the first phase being rolled out and operational by the end of January 2023. This session will take you through the background to the changes, what proposals will be part of the first phase and how these will impact households in Northern Ireland who are currently waiting for a home in the social rented sector.
