Latest Northern Ireland Housing Bulletin published

The housing statistics from January 2014 to the end of March 2014 have just been published by the Department for Social Development.

Key facts from the report include:

•    4,740 households presented as homeless to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive between January and the end of March.  This is an increase of 73 (2%) from the previous quarter.

•    The reason for homelessness category with the highest number of presenters (912) was those citing a sharing breakdown or family dispute.

•    The number of households accepted by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive as full duty applicants for the quarter January to March 2014 was 2,438, an increase of 9% compared to the previous quarter

•    Between Quarter 4 (October - December) 2013 and Quarter 1 (January - March) 2014 residential property prices increased by 3%.

•    Over the year to the end of March 2014 residential property prices increased by 7%.

•    Residential property prices are now 6% lower than Quarter 1 2005, and less than half of the peak value of the housing market in Quarter 3 2007.
