The impact of Housing Rights work

We believe that prevention of homelessness is the best cure and we work tirelessly to keep people in their homes and help them with their housing problems.  We’ve recently launched our Impact Report for 2018/2019 that highlights our work in the last year.

Over the past year, we have prevented over 1000 households from becoming homeless, with an estimated £16 million saving to the public purse.

We have helped clients with:

  • Over 19,000 issues about finding accommodation
  • Over 18,700 issues about keeping accommodation
  • Nearly 14,000 issues about paying for accommodation

As a result of our services 9 out of 10 clients felt:

  • Their housing problems were solved
  • Less stressed about their housing
  • Their quality of life was improved
  • Reaching out

We want to ensure our services helps us or other agencies assist even more people struggling with homelessness and housing problems.

  • Our public advice site www.housingadviceni.org had over 1.5 million page views with 9 out of 10 visitors finding the information to resolve their housing problems
  • Our Community Housing Advice Partnership helped agencies and their clients’ right across Northern Ireland achieve positive outcomes to over 32,500 housing issues.
  • 9 out of 10 people who attended our training felt they had improved their housing skills and knowledge.

Housing Rights impact report for 2018/2019 was formally launched at Housing Rights recent AGM. We were delighted to have the key note address provided by Professor Peter Roberts, Chair of NIHE.
