Housing Rights appoints new Chief Executive

Housing Rights Executive Committee are delighted to announce the appointment of Kate McCauley as the organisation’s new Chief Executive. 

Kate’s career has been dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights of people whose circumstances make them vulnerable to poor housing and homelessness.

Kate joined the Housing Rights team in 2015 and is currently Head of Policy and Development. In this role Kate has been instrumental in overseeing the delivery of a number of critical services at a time of unprecedented homelessness and housing stress in Northern Ireland. On accepting the role, Kate said:

"I am delighted to have been appointed CEO at Housing Rights. The work we are doing to prevent homelessness has never been more critical and I look forward to leading the staff team in the next phase of our work to ensure everyone has a home"

 

She has also been responsible for leading the organisation’s policy work and has been a leading figure in cross sectoral initiatives such as the Cliff Edge Coalition and the critical work around welfare reform mitigations.  Prior to joining Housing Rights Kate held policy roles in the Human Rights organisation, Participation and the Practice of Rights.

“Kate McCauley is a passionate advocate for tackling housing and homelessness issues in Northern Ireland. The past 7 years that Kate has worked in Housing Rights showcases her strong track record in delivering successful outcomes and innovative solutions. We are delighted Kate has accepted this position in Housing Rights."

Kate McCauley will take up the post of Chief Executiveon  1st February 2023 working alongside Janet Hunter, who will stay in Housing Rights to the end of March 2023.
