Upcoming Housing Practitioner meeting to focus on welfare mitigations and rates assistance
The next meeting of the Housing Practitioners' Forum will be held on Thursday 13th February and will include presentations from the Housing Executive and Land & Property Services.
The Housing Executive is currently consulting on its planned Customer Support and Tenancy Sustainment Strategy 2019-2022. Staff from NIHE will deliver a presentation on the proposed strategy at Thursday's meeting and will answer questions on the strategy and the consultation process.
This will be the first time that the forum has met since the NI Assembly resumed work and policy staff from Housing Rights will provide an update on the Assembly's work in regards to housing and the extension of the welfare reform mitigation package.
We are also pleased to confirm that Land & Property Services will attend to explain more about the assistance that tenants and homeowners can receive with their rates bills. We hope that this will give members an opportunity to ask questions about the new rate rebate system and how it interconnects with Universal Credit claims.
As always, the meeting will also include a briefing on case law and information changes and include a forum for discussing complex cases and advice strategies with members of Housing Rights' casework and legal advice teams.
Attend the meeting
The meeting will be held at 14:30 in Housing Rights offices at 239 Newtownards Road. Attendance is free and open to any member of Housing Rights. To confirm your attendance or find out more about the event contact Diane on 028 9024 5640.
