On Tuesday 29 November, a range of professionals and campaigners in the Private Rented Sector (PRS) met in the Skainos Centre in Belfast (as well as joining online) to discuss the challenges facing renters in Northern Ireland. Housing Rights CEO Janet Hunter chaired proceedings and welcomed attendees from local government, campaign groups, civil servants and landlords’ representatives.

Homelessness Awareness Week is a week of social, educational and awareness raising events aiming to raise awareness of the reality of homelessness in Northern Ireland.  

The High Court has allowed a judicial review into the Housing Executive’s decision not to award intimidation points to a homeless applicant.

Background to application for judicial review

The applicant in this case had experienced paramilitary attacks in the past. Because of this, the Housing Executive awarded intimidation points and allocated social housing.
