Coleraine and Magherafelt will be the third area in Northern Ireland to have Universal Credit introduced on the 13 December 2017.

This new benefit will replace Housing Benefit, Working Tax Credits, Child Tax Credit, Income Support, Income based Job Seekers Allowance and income related Employment and Support Allowance.  Anyone of working age who gets these benefits will be affected.

According to HomeLet rental index for September 2017, the average rents in Northern Ireland have increased at double the UK rate over the past 12 months.

The survey shows the average rent in Northern Ireland in September 2017 rose 4.3% to £636, from £610 in September 2016.

Housing Rights Policy and Practice Officer, Sarah Corrigan, is concerned by the news.

CIH Working Together Award Highly Commended Housing Rights

Housing Rights is delighted to have two of our projects Highly Commended at the Chartered Institute of Housing Awards on the 24 February 2017 in Belfast. 

The Housing Executive has recently released their ‘Mapping Foreign Nationals Living in Northern Ireland’ report. Estimating the number of foreign nationals living in Northern Ireland can be difficult. But this report uses information from the Census 2011, information gathered from the NIHE local offices and other key reports.

Housing Rights will be running a 6-a-side football tournament and family fun day at the new Girdwood Community Hub in North Belfast on Saturday 30 July from 11:00-14:00.

The fantastic new 3G pitches will be perfect for players of all standards, while the surrounding area provides space for the non players to cheer the teams on!
