BRAND NEW
In March 2022 the Minister for Communities, Deirdre Hargey, announced changes to the Discretionary Housing Payment Scheme which now offers private renters greater financial support in retaining their tenancy.
This information session will look in detail at the changes being implemented by the NIHE, who provide the ‘top up’ payments to help private renters in the shortfall between their contractual rental costs and the Local Housing Allowance payment they receive.
In this session, we will look at the enhancements recently announced which include:
- Supporting tenants on Universal Credit who ‘lost’ the £20 uplift from their payments in October 2021
- Changes to time limits for DHP payments
- Extensions of the 13-week protection payments meaning more people are now eligible for this payment when moving into the private rented sector.
- New award limits
- Reviews of certain existing awards
This one-hour information session will take place online via Zoom.
Attendees on this session will receive a complimentary copy of Housing Rights Professional Resource ‘Discretionary Housing Payments - A new approach’.
