Volunteers Week 2022: A time to say thanks

Volunteers Week 2022

The 38th Annual Volunteers week takes place this year 1-7 June, and is an opportunity for us to thank our wonderful volunteers and to recognise the contribution that they have made to Housing Rights and to those who use our services.

In the last four years alone, our volunteers have dedicated over 2800 hours of their time across all areas of the organisation, helping us toward our vision of everyone having a home.

Housing Rights Policy Co-ordinator Kerry Logan outlined the contribution made by our Policy Volunteer Rebekah:

Rebekah has been such an asset to Housing Rights’ policy team over the past year. She has played a vital role in keeping the team up to date with developments and debates at the NI Assembly through monitoring of Committee meetings and plenary sessions. Rebekah has also been a great support with our work on the Cliff Edge Coalition (a Coalition of over 100 organisations campaigning for the extension and strengthening of welfare reform mitigations), providing both administrative support and keeping the group up to date with policy developments.

Rebekah is a fantastic communicator with extensive policy knowledge and analytical skills, but most importantly she is passionate about our work which is something we value so much in our volunteers. Rebekah’s passion is evident in the fact that not only is she volunteering with our policy team, but she has been a key member of our Renters’ Voice project – a project aimed at building a strong voice for private tenants and a culture of tenant participation.

We are so grateful to Rebekah for all the time, energy, skills, knowledge and passion she brings to our team!

Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard

Housing Rights became an Investing in Volunteers achiever for the first time in 2020, and we are proud to have retained this quality standard for good practice in volunteer management.
