Landlord Advice Service continued after successful pilot

Following a successful pilot Housing Rights has secured a contract to provide a free telephone and email advice service for landlords for the next three years.

Funding for the service, which is provided by the Department for Communities, means landlords can access free confidential advice to help meet their legal requirements.  The “Landlord Advice” service aims to promote a professional and well managed private rented sector that is good for both landlords and tenants.

Catherine Feely Advice Service Manager with Housing Rights commented: “The law around renting privately can be complex and we are delighted to be able to assist landlords including those who may be thinking about becoming landlords as well as letting/managing agents, by providing the advice and information they need to successfully manage their tenancies.  This free service is a great resource.   Landlords can get help with the application and interpretation of relevant housing and landlord tenant legislation. We can also advise on practical issues like preparing to rent, property standards, rights and responsibilities and ending tenancies. ”

The private rented sector has grown rapidly with one in five households in Northern Ireland now privately renting their homes.  During the period of the pilot the Landlord Advice service dealt with over 2100 queries and received a 100% satisfaction rating from landlords using the service.

Landlords can get free advice from 9.30am to 2.30pm by contacting 90 245640 and selecting option 5, or emailing [email protected]
